Shakira Is Billboard’s First Latin Woman of the Year
At the first Mujeres Latinas en la Música gala, Billboard will name Shakira Woman of the Year. Ivy Queen and Jacqueline Bracamontes will host the two-hour music
spectacular, which will premiere exclusively on Telemundo on May 7 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.
Mujeres Latinas en la Música, a first for Latin music, honors Latin female artists, executives, and creatives who actively
promote positive change, inclusiveness, and gender parity in the music industry. At the inaugural Billboard-Telemundo event, stars Ana Gabriel, Emilia, Evaluna, Goyo, and Thalia will receive special prizes.
Shakira's accolade follows her record-breaking 2022 Spanish-language debut ("Monotonía" featuring Ozuna). In January 2023,
"Shakira: BZRP Music Sessions #53" debuted at No. 9 on Billboard's Hot 100 list, becoming her the first Spanish-speaking woman to do so.
"Sessions" broke 14 Guinness World Records as the most-streamed Latin tune on Spotify and the most-viewed Latin track on YouTube with over 63 million views.
Shakira is the greatest female musician. She empowered Latin women everywhere to develop and deliver deeply personal music.
Grace, talent, and a rich heritage of giving back made her a movement.
